Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids is a financial literacy program designed to equip children aged 7 to 12 with the knowledge, tools, and practice that they need to make financial decisions to reach their personal goals and dreams. Under funding and technical support from Prudence Foundation, on January 02, 2018, CRF and MoEYS signed the project agreement for the 1-year piloting of the Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids project in 20 primary schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal province. After this pilot period, CRF and the Primary Education Department of MoEYS developed a 3 years joint project on Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids and the Prudence Foundation agreed to support the first-year project implementation under the project agreement for another 1 year which was signed on July 05, 2019. The results of the 1st year project, Prudence Foundation is continuing support to implement the Cha-Ching Money Project for years 2 and Year3 in 150 primary schools in Phnom Penh, Kandal, and Kampong Cham province. Phase I of the project implementation-In 2019, With both technical and financial support from the Prudence Foundation, the Cha-Ching Program was designed by the Child Rights Foundation and the Primary Education Department of MoEYS to join a project called “Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids” for three years project which started from February 2019 to March 2022 that implemented in 3 provinces among 25 provinces and municipal of Cambodia, with 150 primary schools involved. The project benefited 39,889 (19,325 girls) students, 581 teachers, 150 school directors from 150 target schools, 289 parents, and 69 government staff. The project Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids Phase II will be built upon the result of 150 existing target schools and government (MoEYS) ownership from project phase I and expanded to new 150 target schools (50 target schools in Kampong Cham, 50 target schools in Siem Reap and 50 target schools in Kampot province). Project phase II was designed as a joint project between the Child Rights Foundation and the Primary Education Department of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) with the main three strategies of intervention to ensure the project implementation with high quality and reached the project-specific objectives.
“Cha-Ching Money Smart Kid” was awarded the title of the “Best Financial Literacy Program” at the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham Camboodia) CSR Excellence Awards 2023, held in December 2023. The annual awards ceremony recognizes the outstanding contributions of private companies to the development of Cambodia.
